What did Guido want for Christmas this year? A mountain of toys! And thanks to a Best Friends member, that wish came true.
Well, okay, there's something Guido may not want to admit. Those toys aren't really all for him. He's going to have to share them with the rest of the birds at Best Friends.
This gigantic toy haul - enough for all -- came from a woman named Mickey Muck. Mickey has been a long-standing supporter of Feathered Friends, the bird part of the sanctuary. Each year Mickey solicits donations for Feathered Friends. As a flight attendant, she has lots of opportunities to meet different people who love birds. At the end of the year, Mickey sends whatever donations she has collected to a toy company-Super Bird Creations-who matches the funds with product. This year Mickey raised an impressive $600, which translated to a whopping $1,200 in brand new bird toys. All shipped to Best Friends in three huge boxes.
Is it any wonder that Guido looks so happy? The parrots will make good use of the spoils, no doubt. And really, parrot toys are the coolest type of toy out there. Who else gets toys that are supposed to be destroyed? No worrying about warranties or product registration here. "If this product reduces itself to a pile of nothingness within one weekŠ congratulations!"
So while Guido may be trying to stake a claim on Mount Toysmore, his pile will soon be spread among all the different birds. Each toy will then inevitably be put through the ringer and annihilated long before next Christmas. What fun!
