Looking for that perfect gift? Something your family member or friend won’t have to return to the store because it’s the wrong color or doesn’t fit? Something you won’t have to wait in line at the post office to mail?
Best Friends Animal Society is launching the "Give the Gift and Pass It On" campaign just in time for the holiday season. For only $25, Best Friends members can give the gift of a membership, which includes a subscription to the bimonthly Best Friends magazine. It’s just a click of a mouse or phone call away. And it’s tax-deductible.
"During this holiday season, we’re all looking at costs," says Shelley Thayer, circulation manager for Best Friends. "This is a great way to help the animals and there’s no postage."
Also as part of the campaign, we’re asking that when people finish reading their Best Friends magazine, they "pass it on" by leaving the magazine at their doctor’s office, local senior center, veterinarian’s office or other gathering place so even more people can enjoy it.
Those who "Give the Gift and Pass It On" can feel good knowing that their money is helping Best Friends to benefit animals in need, especially in these hard economic times.
"There’s no more important time than now to reach out to animals and people," Shelley says.
To "Give the Gift and Pass It On," go to our user-friendly web page or call 435-644-2001, ext. 4801, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mountain Time seven days a week.
The "Give the Gift" campaign is the key to Best Friends' increased commitment to a world in which there are no more homeless pets. As part of our 25th anniversary activities in 2009, we are working to double our membership in order to redouble our efforts on behalf of abused, neglected and abandoned animals.
In the upcoming issue of Best Friends magazine, executive director Paul Berry explains why and how we must "build an army of new support!"
"The dynamics of pet overpopulation have evolved, and we have had to rethink, retool and expand our efforts," he writes. "We’ve learned what works best and what doesn’t, and we’re ready to move forward.”
If you don’t currently receive Best Friends magazine, read Paul’s call to action in the November/December issue by subscribing through the “Give the Gift web page.
You can also purchase the magazine at B. Dalton, Barnes and Noble, and various newsstands.
Members who "Give the Gift and Pass It On" are making a real difference in the lives of animals, according to Shelley. "The $25 goes so far in helping the animals," she says. "It will help Best Friends to give the animals love, nourishment, medical and psychological care, and a safe haven while they’re waiting for forever homes. We’re hoping our members will give the gift all year long."
