Lint Roller Party lights up Hollywood

May 9, 2005 : 4:26 PM ET

Click to see slideshow of celebs and guests at the Best Friends Lint Roller Party.

At this year's all-star event, members of Best Friends mixed and mingled with celebrities and with some highly adoptable pooches (hopefully soon to be celebs, too!). It was all to raise money for local spay/neuter and adoption programs.

This year's Lint Roller was at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and guests ranged from "Survivor" host Jeff Probst to "Sin City" star Jessica Alba to "Monty Python" alum and "Spamalot" creator Eric Idle. Tough guy Mickey Rourke proved he's a marshmallow when it comes to animals, toting his aging Chihuahua in his left arm all evening. Special thanks, also, to "Six Feet Under's" Frances Conroy, Adrian Grenier of "Entourage," and James Cromwell, for making the evening such a success.

Actors Brian Cox and Nancy Travis took the stage to present awards to Geeta Seshamani of Friendicoes in Delhi, India, and Rande Stern of Karma Rescue in Los Angeles. (No connection–they must just both have good karma!) And, director Wolfgang Petersen's wife, Maria, who sponsored one of the awards, jumped in with a challenge for another $1,000 award, eagerly picked up by Charles Huggins, CEO of See's Candies.

The silent auction was a shopper's paradise and pulled in over $60,000 on its own. Cuisine was all-vegan and totally scrumptious. Great music was provided by Keaton Simons and his band.

And tons (literally) of goodies were donated for food and drink, gift bags, and prizes in the auction.

Many thanks to all made the evening possible -- and to all who came and made it such a blessing for all the homeless pets of the L.A. area!
